The Buffalo Bayou Partnership is facilitating the development of a boat ramp and boat storage facility on a 3.7-acre parcel of property that the Partnership owns in the East End. The objective is to establish a safe and convenient boat launching facility on Buffalo Bayou. The property is located at 501 North York Street, directly across from the new Tony Marron Park and will be linked to other East End amenities through the East End Trail System.

The BBP is working with local developer Alan Atkinson, the Houston Dragon Boat Association, the Rice Crew Team, the Texas Outriggers Club and the Houston Canoe Club to develop a facility that will enable public access to launch watercraft directly into the bayou. Other groups involved in the East End and in youth sports are also encouraged to participate in this exciting project.

The facility is part of the BBP’s on-going efforts to promote water-based activities. The boat launch will give the public a safe and convenient boat ramp to enter the bayou and will include a fixed concrete boat ramp with a protected harbor and dock. The ramp will be available for the public to use and the harbor and dock will be available for the easy landing and launching of the boats.

The second phase of the development calls for facilities to store boats and equipment, parking and a viewing area for boat races. We also anticipate making boats available for the public to rent.
