The work was inspired by her 2022 performance for the Scelsi Foundation\, honoring soprano Michiko Hirayama\, a longtime collaborator of experimental composer Giacinto Scelsi. Hirayama\, who moved to Rome from Japan after World War II\, had a remarkable career spanning opera\, traditional Japanese music\, Roman free improvisation\, and Gregorian chant\, embodying an extraordinary vocal and stylistic range. Recent projects include Breath Atlas\, a musical archipelago of papyrus fragments by Sappho\, and Love Letter\, a reworking of Monteverdi’s Lettera Amorosa inspired by an unattributed recording from the Scelsi archive. With Eda Er\, Graves forms the other half of Sada\, a voice/electronics duo charting the storytelling capacities of experimental and improvised music. An alumna of the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship\, the Michiko Hirayama Scholarship\, Voix Nouvelles Academy of the Royaumont Foundation\, and Rice University\, she is now a PhD candidate at the University of California\, Berkeley. \n  \nTickets & Availability\nTicket release dates for this set of performances are listed above. DESCRIPTION:The Port to Port History Tour is a 2-hour cruise east of downtown on Buffalo Bayou from Allen’s Landing to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. \nIn 1914 with the opening of the Houston Ship Channel and the modern Port of Houston\, the section of Buffalo Bayou from the port’s turning basin to the foot of Main Street (now known as Allen’s Landing) was called the upper channel.  Join bayou guide Andrew Groocock on a historical tour of the upper channel of Buffalo Bayou focusing on the historic significance of this industrial stretch and Houston\, as you cruise the approximately seven miles from the old port of Houston to the new port of Houston. \nCost: $45/person \nDeparture location: 1019 Commerce Street (at Main Street)\, go down the cascading stairs (on your left of the 3-story brown brick building).
