Please check back for future events in the Underground Sounds series here. \n\nJoin us for a special music series in the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern! \nThroughout 2022\, Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) is collaborating with Houston organizations on Underground Sounds\, a series of musical performances that highlight the remarkable natural acoustics of the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. \nThe first event in the series is organized in partnership with Nameless Sound and will include four unique concerts featuring multi-instrumentalist/improviser/composer and creative music icon\, Joe McPhee. Each event will feature McPhee playing a horn instrument in a different quartet with three Houston collaborators\, displaying both the wide range of sonic expression in Houston’s creative music community and the range in McPhee’s own practice. \nJoe McPhee is a legendary artist most associated with the radical movements of jazz in the 1960s and beyond. Whether volunteering as an individual or a small group\, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy. \nIndividuals can register by completing our online waiver. Small groups can reserve spaces and larger groups can schedule another day during the month by emailing volulnteer@buffalobayou.org. \nVolunteers will help with a variety of tasks\, including but not limited to: trash pick-up\, mulching and weed removal. We do ask that all volunteers bring their own work gloves. DESCRIPTION:Join BBP for Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night\, a free and interactive holiday event! Unsilent Night is a sound sculpture created when many individuals simultaneously play one of four tracks by composer Phil Kline. \nFriends and family are invited to an informal reception at 6 pm to enjoy hot chocolate\, tasty treats\, beer from Saint Arnold Brewing Company\, crafts for the kids\, and a special visit from Santa! Guests may also purchase food and drinks from food trucks. The procession along Buffalo Bayou’s hike and bike trails begins at 7 pm. \nThis event is free\, but we kindly ask you to RSVP! \n  \nSchedule:\n6 pm – Reception at The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park\n7 pm – Procession along Buffalo Bayou Park’s trails \n  \nParking: Self-parking available in City Lot H (Memorial Drive before Houston Avenue). \n  \nBefore you arrive: \n\nCome with your cell phones fully charged\, dress warmly\, and wear comfortable shoes! Feel free to bring portable speakers for your smartphone or listening device.\n\nThe free Unsilent Night app is available for iOS download in the App Store and Android download through the Amazon App Store.
