NIGHT LIGHT Returns to Buffalo Bayou East

Houston, TX (February 28, 2025) – Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) and Aurora Picture Show are pleased to announce the fourth annual NIGHT LIGHT, a free evening of video art illuminating the trails and structures along Buffalo Bayou east of downtown.

On Saturday, March 29 from 8-10pm, the wildly popular NIGHT LIGHT event will return to its original 2022 location on the Buffalo Bayou hike and bike trails near Guadalupe Plaza Park just east of downtown. Houston artists Saúl Hernández-Vargas, Diana-Sofia Estrada, and Isogram Media Studio have been selected by Aurora Picture Show to create site-specific media art installations inspired by the unique infrastructure, landscapes, and ecology of Buffalo Bayou. Attendees will be able to view immersive artworks animating structures such as bridges and gravel silos along a half-mile stretch of the bayou trail network.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy a vibrant night market with music, food trucks, refreshments, and neighborhood vendors and artisans.

“In addition to showcasing these engaging works, NIGHT LIGHT also serves to connect visitors with the waterfront trails east of downtown,” says Karen Farber, BBP’s Vice President of External Affairs. “We are grateful to Aurora Picture Show – which is now based in the East End neighborhood – for partnering with us once again on this adventurous program.”

“NIGHT LIGHT offers the Houston community a truly unique experience and provides a platform for local artists who have an intimate relationship with the city’s natural, urban, and cultural landscapes,” says Salome Kokoladze, Aurora Picture Show Curator. “These commissioned video works represent diverse voices, connecting history and tradition to the future and engaging the power of playfulness in community building.”
