Cistern Illuminated
Brighten up your winter with, Cistern Illuminated, an immersive light and sound installation in the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. This annual tradition transforms the underground decommissioned drinking water reservoir into a breathtaking spectacle, showcasing the Cistern’s repeating columns and their uncanny reflections on the surface of the water below. A unique and original soundscape follows the moving lights around the cavernous Cistern.

Choral Performances
Voices of Light: A Mystical Holiday Soundscape
Experience live choral performances in the cavernous Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. The Schola Cantorum of downtown’s Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart offers a 20-minute journey through centuries of music, from 4th-century chant to the works of Hildegard von Bingen and ethereal modern compositions, including those by the Co-Cathedral’s own Crista Miller. Special lighting will animate the experience of the space, creating a fully immersive winter holiday experience.
