BBP’s conservation team will highlight birding, in conjunction with Houston’s Bird Week to include our bat colony at Waugh Drive and egrets, hawks, and herons who make their home along Houston’s historic waterway.

Indigenous People’s Day (Calmecac Indigenous Organization)

BBP is proud to host the Calmecac Indigenous Organization’s observance of the 9th annual Indigenous People’s Day at Tony Marron Park in the East End. Elders, traditional dancers, community members, and the public are invited to participate in Azteca/Mexica dance led by Calmecac Tonantzin Yolilitzyotl, as well as a water blessing along Buffalo Bayou, a pipe ceremony, traditional songs, and acknowledgement of the land that has been home to indigenous communities for thousands of years.
