Aboard BBP’s pontoon boat, take a look back to the late 1800s when Houston was founded with Louis Aulbach, local historian and author of Buffalo Bayou: An Echo of Houston’s Wilderness Beginnings. Louis will share stories of the Allen brothers and provide historical information about the people, places and events along the bayou that helped shape Houston.

Whether volunteering as a large or small group, or individually, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy.

Enjoy a free walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Buffalo Bayou Clean Up with Trees for Houston

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership and our friends at Trees For Houston as we help restore Buffalo Bayou Park following damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Volunteers will remove dead trees and prep the bayou for a future tree planting with trees graciously donated by Trees for Houston.

Moving East: Community Meeting

Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP), the non-profit organization revitalizing Houston's historic waterway, is moving east. After developing Buffalo Bayou Park and other award-winning green space projects in the downtown area, BBP is making plans to transform the 5-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou from US 59 to the Port of Houston Turning Basin.
