Winter Solstice with Sights and Sounds
Second Saturday Boat RideImmerse yourself in a seasonal light and meditative experience in the Cistern to celebrate Winter Solstice, the “rebirth of the sun.” Find your center with tranquil sounds by Saumil Manek with his use of singing bowls and wind chimes. To amplify mindfulness and connectivity, you will also be surrounded by a special winter lighting installation created by artist and engineer Kelly O’Brien.

Our free, beginner-level Sunset Yoga series aims to help keep us all active and healthy during the colder months. After a beginner-level 45-min yoga class, enjoy nourishing beverages, all while overlooking Buffalo Bayou from our Sunset Coffee Building balcony.

2022 Cistern Illuminated Performances
Second Saturday Boat RideTours of Cistern Illuminated will be punctuated by special performances by the Schola Cantorum of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. These periodic events feature ethereal songs from the seventh century to the present day. Concerts will feature works of Hildegard van Bingen, Guillaume Dufay, Elizabeth Poston, Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Crista Miller, and others in this unique acoustic space.
