SOLD OUT – “Looking Back” History Boat Tour

Aboard BBP's pontoon boat, take a look back to the late 1800s when Houston was founded with Louis Aulbach, local historian and author of Buffalo Bayou: An Echo of Houston’s Wilderness Beginnings. Louis will share stories of the Allen brothers and provide historical information about the people, places and events along the bayou that helped shape Houston.

Enjoy a free walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Join bayou guide Andrew Groocock on a historical tour of the upper channel of Buffalo Bayou focusing on the historical significance of this industrial stretch and Houston as you cruise the approximately seven miles from the old port of Houston to the new port of Houston.

Our Spring Foodie Floats schedule begins with a winemaker experience on BBP’s pontoon boat! Ryan Levy and Ian Eastveld—sommeliers, winemakers, wine educators and Le Cordon Bleu trained chefs—will lead guests through a discussion and tasting of their award-winning wines while taking in exceptional views of Buffalo Bayou’s lush landscape. Bayou Buddies Happy Hour

Spend the evening relaxing in the semi-private fire room at the Red Lion British Pub with Bayou Buddies! We'll talk about the upcoming Bayou Bash and ways to get involved. Appetizers will be provided, courtesy of Red Lion British Pub.

Second Saturday Boat Ride

Note

These 30-minute boat rides are a great way to spend the afternoon with your family. Escape from the city and enjoy the cool breeze as you glide along Buffalo Bayou’s waters. Look for graceful herons, jumping fish, and even an occasional alligator sunning on the banks.
Weather permitting. No reservations are taken for these tours. They are first come, first serve.

Learn more about these 250,000 magnificent Mexican free-tailed bats that share the city with us! Led by a “bat girl” docent, guests will enjoy an amazing view of the bats’ dusk emergence from the Waugh Drive Bridge on Buffalo Bayou.
