Sustainable planning for community development.

Not only is Buffalo Bayou Partnership bringing new and expanded parks, trails, and cultural destinations to the Greater East End and Fifth Ward neighborhoods, we are incorporating infrastructural improvements and long-term stewardship into all that we do. Several infrastructure projects in the Buffalo Bayou East 10-Year Plan will expand public access, increase safety, and improve quality of life for the community.

Marron Park Way, a new road, is being constructed along the southern edge of Tony Marron Park. This “complete street” offers a direct connection between North York Street and Lockwood Drive for improved access and reduced truck and through-traffic on adjacent residential streets. A 10-foot-wide pedestrian walkway with lighting will ensure safety and connectivity between Tony Marron Park, Lockwood on Buffalo Bayou housing, and Garver Park.

Navigation Boulevard Greenway, led in collaboration with Harris County Precinct 2, reimagines Navigation Boulevard between Lockwood Drive and Mack Street as a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly street with a wide median and tree-lined hike and bike trail. This project will also see widened sidewalks, improved roads, and better stormwater drainage. Learn more about the Reimagine Navigation Boulevard Greenway project here.

A new Buffalo Bayou East Maintenance and Operations Facility is under construction on the west side of North York Street from Tony Marron Park. This essential complex will serve as the home for BBP’s Waterway Maintenance team and base of operations for a maintenance team serving green spaces and trails on the bayou east of downtown.

By 2032, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and its partners will realize the Buffalo Bayou East 10-Year Plan, bringing parks, trails, bayou-crossing bridges, affordable housing, cultural destinations, and infrastructure improvements to the Greater East End and Fifth Ward.  This visionary plan is made possible by a $100 million catalyst gift from the Kinder Foundation to Buffalo Bayou Partnership, which leveraged significant public support from Harris County and the City of Houston, including Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone funds.
