Tony Marron Park

Named after the longtime East End green space advocate, Tony Marron Park will become a gathering place for Greater East End and Fifth Ward residents and will serve as the primary green space destination for Buffalo Bayou East.

Nature Play Area

Gathering Spaces

Reimagining a beloved community park.

Tony Marron Park will be expanded from 19 to 40 acres and enhancements include:

  • Combination of wild landscapes and civic spaces for a wide range of activities including refurbished soccer fields; public art; and areas for community events, birthdays, and picnics.
  • Nature-based play area with zones designed for different age ranges and a Play Shed with restrooms
  • Barbeque pavilion with a communal pit surrounded by individual grills and a picnic grove
  • Marron Parkway, a new street, creates a beautiful front door to this centerpiece of Buffalo Bayou East.
  • A central maintenance facility on the western edge of the expanded site will house park operations for the entire Buffalo Bayou East area along with BBP’s waterway cleanup operation.
  • A bayou-crossing pedestrian bridge, the first of its kind in the area, connects the park to Japhet Creek Park on the north bank.

By 2032, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and its partners will realize the Buffalo Bayou East 10-Year Plan, bringing parks, trails, bayou-crossing bridges, affordable housing, cultural destinations, and infrastructure improvements to the Greater East End and Fifth Ward.  This visionary plan is made possible by a $100 million catalyst gift from the Kinder Foundation to Buffalo Bayou Partnership, which leveraged significant public support from Harris County and the City of Houston, including Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone funds.
