Join us for an opening celebration for Japhet Creek Park! We’re inviting the community to the newly completed neighborhood park on Japhet Creek, a historic Buffalo Bayou tributary in Houston’s Fifth Ward. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and family and friends to enjoy a day in the park with performances from local musicians, including Step Rideau & The Zydeco Outlaws, food and drinks, face-painting, community organizations and vendors, and fun activities for all.

11:00am: Remarks with Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Rich Kinder, Chairman of the Kinder Foundation
11:30am: Ribbon cutting followed by the Wheatley High School Marching Band and Cheer Squad
12:00pm: Performance by local band Step Rideau & The Zydeco Outlaws
1:15pm: Performance by piano prodigy and TikTok sensation Traevon Narcisse
1:30pm: Tunes with KTSU
Buffalo Bayou Partnership recently completed construction on the first phase of the Japhet Creek Park improvements, featuring new trails, wildflower meadows, and lawns for gatherings and events. Part of BBP’s Buffalo Bayou East 10-Year Plan, the second phase of the Japhet Creek project will include a creekside trail leading to a bayou-crossing pedestrian bridge connecting to Tony Marron Park to the south.
