FULL: Monthly Volunteer Workday

Houstonians, ages 9 and up, are invited to join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for community-wide volunteer days at Buffalo Bayou Park happening the third Saturday of each month. Whether volunteering as a large or small group, or individually, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy.

Nature Walking Tour

Enjoy a free walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Waugh Bat Colony Boat Tour

Volunteer

Guests will enjoy an amazing view of the bats’ dusk emergence from Waugh Bridge. Learn more about the thousands of magnificent Mexican free-tailed bats that share the city with us.

Birding with the Bats

Public Art

Join Alisa Kline, a Texas Master Naturalist, for an evening of birding along Buffalo Bayou at Waugh Drive Bridge where a colony of more than 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats resides. Find out which birds and other critters are attracted to the bats during their nightly emergence. We cannot guarantee hawks will be on the job, but make sure to bring your binoculars. It will be hard to catch the action without them!

2019 KBR Kids Day

Bat Boat Tour

KBR Kids Day is one of Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s (BBP) signature events, with thousands of children and their families in attendance each year. Join us on October 12 for free family fun at the 12th annual KBR Kids Day at Guadalupe Plaza Park. Activity stations will include numerous hands-on activities from over 20 Houston partners, local entertainment and performers, Dia de los Muertos face painters, balloon artists, a rock climbing wall, and so much more!

View the public art in Buffalo Bayou Park like never before on this exciting bike ride! During this tour led by BBP guide Andrew Groocock, you will learn about the various works of art along Buffalo Bayou that make this green space so unique.

Wine Tasting with Nice Winery

Volunteer

Winemaker, Ryan Levy, a certified sommelier, wine educator, and Le Cordon Bleu trained chef, will lead guests through a discussion of his award-winning wines while taking in exceptional views of Buffalo Bayou’s lush landscape from our pontoon boat. One of his wines was recently awarded Best of Show out of 3,000 wines in the Houston Rodeo Wine Competition!

Buffalo Bayou Boat Tour

These 30-minute boat rides are a great way to spend the afternoon or evening with your family. Escape from the city and enjoy the cool breeze as you glide along Buffalo Bayou’s waters. Look for graceful herons, jumping fish, and even an occasional alligator sunning on the banks.
